BEFORE THE GODS, THERE WAS
Thearus
The whole from which the divine became many.
From chaos, Thearus brought forth the celestial, physical, and immortal planes. As they settled into balance, the Realm of Thearus emerged: a meeting place for mortal, immortal, and celestial beings.
To share the burden of maintaining creation, Thearus divided themselves into the pantheon. Every divine will is part of that first whole. Harmony, however, is something even the gods struggle to keep.

FAITH IN AN UNCERTAIN AGE
A prayer is still a choice.
The gods are absent. No living temple can offer a certain account of where they have gone. Celestial magic is rare, and a strange dream or a lucky escape proves little. People keep the rites because the rites give shape to grief, hope, duty, and doubt.
A sailor might invoke Anahid before a voyage, Qalzirai before a hard decision, and Zahira at a funeral. Your character may devote themselves to one deity, honor several, or question them all.
